My horses Echo and Amigo give me and my clients the gift of practicing self-awareness, self-management, and self regulation in a beautiful, powerful, completely authentic way.
Some leaders have the reputation of having different moods on different days, leaving it to their team to decipher how to adjust to them. The best leaders have an unflappable equanimity along with the courage and passion to achieve their goals. They give their teams the gift of consistency in emotion, thought and action.
Practicing self-management means recognizing and taking what we need, whether it’s going to a private room to pound a fist, taking a walk, taking a nap, NOT hitting send on an email…or crying with disappointment, sadness or relief. Then we are able to show up fully present and resond to life with clarity, connection, and courage.
Great leaders take with they need when they need it, and they practice self management and self-regulation. They are better able to stay present and focused in the moment for their teams.
How do you take what you need? How does your consistency affect your team?
