There is a common saying- a myth actually-that says it takes two to cause a problem or interpersonal conflict etc. Anyone who has dealt with a traumatized horse or a toxic person knows this is not true. One can enter the relationship in good faith, with a kind heart, deal honestly and fairly, and do everything in their power to get along, but if the horse or other person cannot or will not cooperate, it is a sad thing. It only takes one.
Sometimes the best we can do is escape. The sooner the better.
